The city of York, PA is located in southeastern Pennsylvania, along highway 74 at the intersection of highway 30 and the I-83. The city is about 25 miles south of Harrisburg, PA and about 20 miles north of the Maryland state-line.
The city lays claim to being 'the first capital of the United States' since it is here that the Articles of Confederation were ratified and the term 'United States' was first acknowledged. While the town did play an important roll in American history it was never proclaimed a capital.
Nevertheless, York does have a rich historic heritage that can be experienced by visitors, especially in the Historic Downtown area with its many Mural Paintings.
Other points of interest include the Agricultural Museum of York County, the Bonham House, the Central Market House, the Industrial Museum of York County and the Harley Davidson plant where tours are available.
