Reading, PA, located about 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia is nicknamed 'The Outlet Capital of the World' and it truly deserves the fame.
It was here that the concept of the outlet store was first conceived during the 60s and today visitors can 'shop till they drop' in over 300 stores located in various complexes including the famed Vanity Fair Outlet Village.
For outdoor recreation the French Creek State Park south of town offers Hiking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing opportunities and three nearby ski areas: Blue Marsh, Doe Mountain and Spring Mountain offer winter skiing and snowboarding.
Most hotels in Reading are located in two clusters, one in the downtown area and one three miles west of downtown and two miles south of the Reading Airport, near the outlet stores.
